SAFEST goal is to undertake time-to-time different need based projects to assist South Asians immigrants adjusting to new lives in the States. It aims to alleviate immigrants who are often unemployed and underemployed through training to achieve their American dreams.
SAFEST educates new immigrants by providing them the education, citizenship training, job skills and guidance needed to succeed in the workforce. It informs South Asians workers about their rights, benefits, and proper working conditions in the workplace. It offers social service referrals to those in need.
SAFEST introduces South Asians to the political system through involvement in the bipartisan electoral process. It leads in organizing, educating, training, registering new voters, helping them to understand the importance of voting, understanding candidates’ position on important issues, agendas that are important to the community.
SAFEST promotes civic engagement, participation, and volunteerism among the South Asian community. It focuses on the growing base of South Asian youths and inter-generational movement building to fight for socio-economic justice and discrimination in the society. It hopes to train our youth as leaders in their respective generations and benefit all those who follow.
SAFEST works hand in hand with hundreds of other socio-economic education related organizations throughout the city in demanding equal opportunity, fairness, and justice for all. It creates stronger bonds and ties with all other community based progressive entities throughout the city and beyond.
